Balken is involved in the development of workspaces adopting many of the tenets of sustainable building to design spaces that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable. Designers who choose to pursue this particular area of interior design often become accredited by taking the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) examination, seriously.

According to the architect Marcelo Agosto: “We can get the certification LEED, appropriately, through monitoring the whole project since the very beginning and verifying all the specific requirements during the execution. The project focused in sustainability involve the proper use of the energy and water, capture and use of the green water beyond using recycled and certified materials”.
